|THREE EMSB STUDENTS CAPTURE BOARD OF TRADE AWARDS|
MONTREAL, MAY 15, 2003— Three students from the English Montreal School Board (EMSB) took home medals at the 21st annual Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal Outstanding Student Awards Program which took place on May 13 at the Bonaventure Hilton Hotel.
This prestigious event recognizes noteworthy personal creative projects completed by Secondary V and vocational education students attending Montreal area schools. All of the finalists were interviewed by jury members in their respective categories. They had to maintain an average of at least 80 percent to qualify.
Salvatore Motillo and Daniel Christopher Orsi of Laurier Macdonald High School in St. Leonard captured silver and bronze medals in the categories of Sciences/Math and Social Sciences respectively. Cristina Covello of Rosemount Technology Centre took home a silver in the Vocational section. Meanwhile, Kristen Brochu of Marymount Academy won a 600$ bursary.
Seven other EMSB students were among the finalists: Anthony Rizzuto, Vincent Massey Collegiate in Rosemount (Science/Mathematics); Justin Ang, LaurenHill Academy in St. Laurent; Tham Thanghavelau, Marymount Academy in N.D.G.; Yang Sujithira Zhang, Vincent Massey Collegiate in Rosemount (Arts); Alessandra Salituri, LaurenHill Academy in St. Laurent; Brian Weshler, Wagar in Côte Saint-Luc( Social Sciences); and Eric Sinclair, Rosemount Technology Centre (Vocational).
