|GARDENVIEW TO HOLD FIRST JOG-A-THON ON FRIDAY, MAY 23|
MONTREAL, MAY 21, 2003- Gardenview Elementary School (700 Brunet) in Saint-Laurent will hold its first Jog-A-Thon on Friday, May 23 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with the objective of raising $25,000 to improve the condition of its schoolyard.
Quebec Government House Leader and St. Laurent MNA Jacques Dupuis and St. Laurent Borough Deputy President Maurice Cohen. will be among the special guests. Recording star Mirella Dell'Aquila from the hit group Sugar Jones will also be on hand to sing for the children.
Gardenview has 825 students from diverse areas and backgrounds. "This is a special year for Gardenview as our parent volunteers have taken on a major initiative to promote an enhanced quality of life for all our students," stated Governing Board Chair Evelyn Koutsaris and Home and School Liaison Sabine Kuhr. "Our mission complements the new MEQ plan of promoting fitness and health for young Quebecers. We strive to motivate and teach our children the importance of regular exercise. This also provides us with the opportunity to fundraise for our school projects."
