Together We Are Better is the theme for this day, which is being presented in collobaration with different unions and associations which represent EMSB employees. For the first time since the EMSB was established on July 1, 1998, administrators, professionals, teachers, administrative and technical support staff, caretakers and cafeteria staff have been invited to come together under the same roof. Commissioners and parent representatives will also participate.
EMSB Director General Antonio Lacroce, Chairman John Simms and Vice-Chairman Dominic Spiridigliozzi will give opening remarks. Bill Page, a noted motivational speaker, will provide the keynote address. Roma Michailuk and Ginette Clarke, principals of Dante and Dunrae Gardens schools respectively, will serve as emcees. "Professional development has previously been devoted mainly to our teachers in the days leading up to the start of classes," states Mr. Lacroce. "This year we are opening it up to everybody."
All participants will be arriving by bus from their respective schools and centres. The program is being sponsored by Transco, PROSYS, Apple Canada, Loblaws, and Athletic Image.
