|DOMINIC SPIRIDIGLIOZZI ELECTED NEW EMSB CHAIRMAN|
MONTREAL, NOVEMBER 25, 2003— Dominic Spiridigliozzi has been elected chairman of the English Montreal School Board (EMSB). Elizabeth Fokoefs will serve as vice chair while Sylvia LoBianco is the new chair of the executive committee.
Mr. Spiridigliozzi, the commissioner for Ward 16 in St. Léonard, was the vice-chairman of the EMSB during the last term. He also sat on the EMSB’s Selection Committee, Education and Facility Committee, Audit Committee and attended meetings of the Finance and Executive Committees.
First elected commissioner in 1990 with the former Jerome-Le Royer School Board, representing the same St-Leonard ward, he attended St. Francis of Assisi Elementary and John F. Kennedy High School. He has a Business Administration Degree from Dawson College.
Mr. Spiridigliozzi is the president of Berman Cast Credit Insurance, a brokerage specializing in business insurance. Over the past 25 years he has held top management positions in a variety of companies such as Dorel Industries, Esprit de Corp and Blue Water Seafoods (a division of General Mills Foods). Mr. Spiridigliozzi has a black belt in Karate. He and his wife Lina, an artist, have two children. One is a teacher and the other presently a student.
Ms. Fokoefs, the commissioner for Ward 3 in N.D.G., was previously an EMSB parent commissioner. She is the mother of seven children. Ms. LoBianco is the commissioner for Ward 15 in Montreal North and the constituency assistant to Federal Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Denis Coderre.
