|ROSEMOUNT TECHNOLOGY CENTRE TO UNVEIL NEW MONTREAL NORTH CAMPUS ON APRIL 29|
MONTREAL, APRIL 28, 2004- Rosemount Technology Centre (RTC) will officially expand to a second campus on Thursday, April 29 (1 p.m.) when officials from the English Montreal School Board (EMSB) unveil new quarters at 10921 Gariépy Street in Montreal North.
RTC is one of the largest English technical career training centres in Quebec. More than 1,100 students are expected to be trained this year. Its main campus in Rosemount is a modern facility with up-to-date technological equipment and comprehensive student services. RTC offers full-time career programs authorized and funded by the Quebec Ministry of Education. The skills, training and technical knowledge acquired in programs such as cabinetmaking, furniture finishing, machining techniques, computer graphics, automated systems electromechanics and industrial machines are in great demand in business and industry throughout North America. Courses are based on a modular system in which each student learns and progresses in a systematic manner.
An important component of each program is the work-study placement in which the students have the opportunity to practice the skills they have learned in an actual work setting. The work-study assignment is individually tailored to meet the needs and aspirations of students. The contacts and experiences in both work-study and cooperative programs frequently lead to permanent employment. RTC’s average placement rate is 85 percent for the 50 top trades in the province.
In general, the centre is structured as a business educational environment, similar to industry, with computer labs, technology rooms and workshops.
The addition of the Montreal North campus will allow RTC to expand and respond to an increased demand for its day courses and address a growing waiting list.
