|EDINBURGH ELECTS GARNEAU IN A LANDSLIDE|
MONTREAL, OCTOBER 21, 2015 – Channeling the voters of NDG-Westmount, students at Edinburgh Elementary School in Montreal West overwhelmingly elected Marc Garneau in their recent mock election.
After hearing from and asking questions to candidates from the four major political parties: Marc Garneau (Liberal), James Hughes (NDP), Robert Libman (Conservative) and Melissa Wheeler (Green Party), students in Grades 5 and 6 were able to cast their own ballots, courtesy of Civix Canada.
Organized by teacher Jean-Michel Brunet, students received ballots and secretly voted, much like their parents did on October 19. Garneau was elected by an overwhelming majority with 60 votes. Hughes came in a distant second place with 18 votes.
