|EMSB NIGHT AT FEBRUARY 15 VERDUN DRAGONS HOCKEY GAME|
MONTREAL, FEBRUARY 8, 2005- The Tuesday, Feb. 15 home game of the Verdun Dragons of the professional Ligue Nord Américaine de Hockey (LNAH) against the St. Hyacinthe Cousin has been proclaimed English Montreal School Board Night (EMSB). Leading the charge in promoting this event are members of the LaurenHill Academy Lynx hockey team, who recently honoured top LNAH scorer James Desmarais at a special all-star skills competition/scrimmage. Desmarais is a LaurenHill grad.
EMSB Chairman Dominic Spiridigliozzi will perform the ceremonial opening faceoff at the game, which begins at 8 p.m. at the Verdun Auditorium (4110 boul. Lasalle). He will be accompanied for this occasion by Lynx head coach Kosta Papoulias and players from his team and the Holy Cross Elementary School Lions and coach Shawn Anderson, a former NHL defenceman.
The Dragons are making tickets available for the special price of $10 to anyone who presents themselves at the Verdun Auditorium box office by no later than Monday February 14 and asks for the "EMSB special." Box office hours are: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.
"In light of the NHL lockout more and more kids are getting hooked on Dragons hockey," says Papoulias. "I encourage any hockey fan who misses the action of professional hockey to join us and watch players who are out there for the love of the game, not million dollar contracts."
