|EMSB CANCELS FIRST DAY OF CLASSES|
MONTREAL, AUGUST 25, 2005- In view of the legal strike action being taken by support staff workers, the English Montreal School Board (EMSB) wishes to inform students and parents that classes in all 85 of its schools and adult centres will be cancelled on Wednesday, August 31. The first day of class will therefore be moved to Thursday, September 1.
EMSB Director General Antonio Lacroce emphasized that all members of unions not in a legal strike position are expected to come to work at their regular time. This includes teachers. Those support staff whose strike mandate ends at Noon will also be expected to return to their posts at that time.
"We looking forward to greeting all of our students on September 1," stated Mr. Lacroce.
