|SCHOOL BOARD NIGHT AT IMPACT GAME|
MONTREAL, JUNE 12, 2006- The English Montreal School Board will have a very strong and exciting presence at the Wednesday, June 14 (7 p.m.) Montreal Impact game at Claude Robilliard Stadium in Ahuntsic.
More than 3,500 tickets were sold alone to EMSB students and staff for the Impact game against Atlanta, which has been dubbed "school board" night by the team. When the EMSB Communications and Marketing Division setup this project, with the assistance of Edward Murphy Elementary School Governing Board Chair Mario Bentrovato, the goal was to sell 1,000 tickets through EMSB schools. Over the winter, the EMSB and the CSDM partnered with the Impact and had players visit schools to tell students how important it is to keep up with their studies.
Before the game, the EMSB’s presence will be recognized and two students who have shown a love for soccer will be presented with Tony Licursi Bursaries. Mr. Licursi was the team’s statistician and a devoted member of the James Lyng High School Alumni Association. He passed away in December. Mr. Bentrovato, who chaired the bursary committee, will present $500 each to Nicolina Zampino of Michelangelo Elementary School in RDP and Steven Masi of Dante Elementary School in St. Léonard.
