|GERALD MCSHANE STUDENTS HELP BRIGHTEN UP HOLDIAY SEASON|
MONTREAL, JANUARY 11, 2016 – Before Grade 6 students from Gerald McShane Elementary School in Montreal North left for winter break, they took a field trip to the Lighthouse.
The Lighthouse of Montreal North is a community restaurant and food bank, providing a place where those in need can feed both body and spirit. Along with Spiritual and Community Aninator Rocco Speranza and Daycare Director Mrs. Clementina, students helped distribute both food and clothing.
As students prepared to spend the holiday season with their families, they learned the important lessons of having respect for others, themselves as well as that of empathy and community spirit.
In addition to their physical presence at the Lighthouse, in advance of Winter Break, 26 frozen turkeys were donated on behalf of their school, which were subsequently delivered to local families in need.
