EMSB MOURNS TRAGIC DEATH OF ROYAL WEST GRAD

MONTREAL, OCTOBER 16, 2006- The English Montreal School Board (EMSB) is mourning the tragic murders of 2005-2006 Royal West Academy graduate Iva Tzokovitch, 17, her 10 year old sister and their mother Mila Yoynova Saturday at their Beaconsfield home.

"This is an unspeakable tragedy," commented EMSB Chairman Dominic Spiridigliozzi. "Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends of these innocent victims who had their entire lives ahead of them."

Iva Tzokovitch is being described as a good student who generally kept to herself. An avid backgammon player, she would often be found reading by her locker during recess. The school has set up a memorial table, including a backgammon set, candles and flowers. Some of Iva's former classmates came in to pay their respects and help prepare the table.

The EMSB made its Traumatic Events Support Team available for school personnel and students at Royal West this morning. EMSB Director General Antonio Lacroce said that flags at the Administration Building in N.D.G. and at Royal West will be flown at half staff in the memory of Iva, her sister and her mother.
