|MNA DAVID BIRNBAUM CREATES TWO SCHOLARSHIPS FOR GRADUATING JOHN GRANT STUDENTS AND WILL ATTEND THE GRADUATION CEREMONY|
MONTREAL – MAY 30, 2016 – D`Arcy McGee Liberal MNA David Birnbaum will attend the graduation ceremony at John Grant High School in Cote-Saint Luc (5785 Parkhaven Avenue) on Thursday, June 16 at 6:30 p.m. and will unveil two new scholarships.
Mr. Birnbaum has confirmed that his office will make an annual contribution to John Grant High School in the amount of $500. This money will be used to create the D’Arcy McGee Student Scholarship Program. In creating these scholarships, Mr. Birnbaum requested that they “contribute to the welfare and future success of John Grant graduating students.” Scholarships will be awarded at the graduation ceremony. Mr. Birnbaum will be in attendance and will address the graduating class.
Two D’Arcy McGee scholarships in the amount of $250 have been created. Award recipients were chosen by the school’s administrative team and the graduation committee.
The first scholarship is for a student who displays the qualities of perseverance at school and personal growth and it will be awarded to Kesrie-Ann Pelesfor, a student in the school’s Challenges Program.
The second scholarship is for a student who shows positive engagement in the community. This will be awarded to Jacquelyn-Louise Gauthier, a student in the Work Orientation Training Path program.
James Fequet, principal of John Grant High School, was delighted that Mr. Birnbaum reached out to the John Grant community. “We appreciate his support of our school, and our students and their future endeavours, both now and in the coming years,” he said. “Mr. Birnbaum’s commitment of the yearly D’Arcy McGee Scholarships are guaranteed only during his term of office.”
