|EMSB CONDEMNS VANDALISM AT MUSLIM SCHOOL|
MONTREAL, JANUARY 17, 2007- The English Montreal School Board (EMSB) has denounced in the strongest of terms the act of vandalism at a St. Laurent Muslim school.
In a letter to Layla Sawaf, the principal of École Les Jeunes Musulmans Canadiens, EMSB Chairman Dominic Spiridigliozzi and Director General Antonio Lacroce extended the Board’s solidarity in light of this unfortunate incident.
"It is unthinkable that someone would want to cause harm and destruction to an institution of learning," the EMSB officials wrote. "The EMSB welcomes and respects the ethnic and cultural diversity of our students. Our goal has always been to foster mutual respect and understanding among our more than 100 cultural groups. We denounce the actions of these vandals in the strongest terms and express hope that the perpetrators are found and brought to justice."
