EMSB STUDENTS SET TO TAKE THE STAGE
 AT PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION

MONTREAL, APRIL 5, 2017 – The annual  English Montreal School Board Public Speaking Competition, a rite of passage for all high school students, is scheduled for April 19 (10 am) for Secondary I and II students and on Thursday, April 21 (9 am) for Secondary III through V levels. The competition will take place at LaurenHill Academy (2505 Boulevard de la Cote Vertu) in St. Laurent.

The first group will deliver personal narrative speeches while the latter will present persuasive speeches on topics of social or political importance.

As in the past, winners at the lower level may have the opportunity to present their winning speeches to the EMSB Council of Commissioners.  This year, the Women’s Canadian Club will award the Secondary III winner with an all-expenses paid week to Encounters with Canada in Ottawa and an invitation to deliver their winning speech at their May meeting.  The Secondary IV and V winners will have an opportunity to participate in the Rotary Club Public Speaking Finals in May 2017.
