MONTREAL, JUNE 27, 2007- Noted businessman and president of the Montreal Impact soccer team, Joey Saputo, will serve as the honourary chair of the fourth annual English Montreal School Board (EMSB) Scholarship Golf Tournament on Thursday, June 28 at the Lachute Golf Club (355 Bethany Road). More than 200 golfers are signed up.

Last fall, the EMSB distributed 30 cash scholarships to high school graduates from the previous year who were continuing their studies in a post-secondary educational program.

Any golfer who manages a hole-in-one (at hole number two on both courses) will win a Saab automobile from Mondial Saturn SAAB on Papineau. Last year Vincent Aciresi, chairman of the Commission scolaire Pointe-de-l’île accomplished this feat. Some of the raffle prizes up for grabs will include a full set of McGregor golf clubs, a Montreal Canadiens jersey, an autographed Montreal Alouettes football, an IPOD, MP3 players, a weekend at Mont Tremblant and a sightseeing plane ride of Montreal.

The proficiency plaques for this year's tournament were designed by the EMSB's Rosemount Technology Centre.

This year's organizing committee is composed of Donald A. Reid, Mario Argiropoulos, Marvin Helfenbaum, Nick Katalifos, James Kromida, Kosta Papoulias, Mel Pololos and event coordinator Domenica Mendicino.
