LAURENHILL ANNOUNCES TWO BUILDING OPEN HOUSE FORMAT

MONTREAL, OCTOBER  9, 2009-   LaurenHill Academy in St. Laurent will   be trying a new approach with its Open House scheduled  for Wednesday, October 21 (6:45 p.m. to  9 p.m.).

The school is divided into a Junior Campus for Grades 7 and 8 at 2355 Decelles and a Senior Campus for Grades 9 to 11 at 2505 Cote Vertu. Combined there are more than 1,500 students. This year LaurenHill will host a simultaneous two building open house, compared to previous versions where only the Junior Campus was used.  All parents considering LaurenHill for their child are encouraged to attend the open house.  A special invitation is extended to Parents with children in Grades 5 or 6.  Admission documents for grade 7 will be distributed at the Senior Campus.

“It reduces the stress level when we plan ahead,” says Principal Claude Dansereau.   “Parents are very worried about Grade 7 when their child is entering high school. However, it is also important to see the quality of education offered at the end of the high school journey.”

Mr. Dansereau says he wants to showcase the school’s unique dance program and jazz band that played at the Montreal International Jazz Festival last July as well as the strong   mathematics, science, English and social studies programs.  “Our French immersion program is also unique,” he notes. The students produced a French rap DVD last year inspired by the successful French author “Grand Coeur Malade.”  Students also study French literature and classical poetry.

“Our success rate is phenomenal, as demonstrated by the large number of students that graduate from LaurenHill Academy every year. Last year, 88 percent of the students that applied to CEGEP were accepted and are now pursuing their post-secondary education. Hence, it is clear that LaurenHill Academy can compete with any other institution, private or public.  We hope that parents will take the time to visit both campuses as it will give them a more global vision of what to expect at LaurenHill for the next five years. We hope that many parents will take the time to visit both buildings.  The distance between the two campuses adds up to a three minute walk.”

Included below are the Ministry of Education, Leisure and Sports  uniform exam results for the last six years in which LHA has systematically improved every year and is now ranking at the top of public schools without admission criteria.
