MONTREAL, JUNE 9, 2010 – Students from eight schools will be front and centre at the Eureka! Festival , providing a series of robotics workshops demonstrating the English Montreal School Board’s (EMSB) elite science and technology program.

Representing the EMSB at the Eureka! Festival will be students and teachers from Dalkeith Elementary School in Anjou, St. Monica Elementary School in Montreal, Gerald McShane Elementary School in Montreal North, Michelangelo Elementary School in Riviere des Prairies, Pierre-de-Coubertin Elementary School in St. Leonard, Cedarcrest Elementary School in St. Laurent, Royal Vale High School in Montreal, and Royal West Academy in Montreal West.

Over the course of the three day festival, guests will be able to visit one of the two large exhibit and workshop tents reserved for the EMSB. Under the guise of students, educational partners, teachers and EMSB Elementary Science and Technology Consultant Sara Iatauro, visitors will be able to participate in basic robotic training workshops and demonstrations.

The workshops will allow the attendees the opportunity to experience the process of building a robot prototype from the conception stage to the production stage, program the prototype and test the robot, much like EMSB students are taught in the classroom.
The Eureka! Festival is a three-day outdoor science-oriented exhibit located at the Old Port of Montreal. The festival features hands-on activities, presentations and shows and is open to the general public and drew approximately 60,000 visitors in 2009.
