Repercussion Theatre

MONTREAL, OCTOBER 26, 2010 – In what  will be a meaningful and emotional experience, students from Bialik High School in Cote Saint Luc will travel to Laurier Macdonald High School in St. Leonard (7355 Viau) on November 10 to commemorate Remembrance Day.

Bialik students are scheduled to arrive at Laurier Macdonald for 9:30 a.m., with the first session beginning at 10:43 a.m. This will be the first of two opportunities to spend time with and learn from Holocaust survivors, Canadian war veterans and Canadian peacekeepers. Throughout the day, the students will engage in intimate and candid conversations with the invited guests about their experiences and memories from the war.

To officially mark Remembrance Day, a formal ceremony, which was organized by Spiritual Animator Vince Lacroce and the Secondary V International Baccalaureate students, will take place in the auditorium at 12:38 p.m. Addressing the students will be Massimo Pacetti; Member of Parliament for Saint-Léonard/Saint-Michel. In addition to student presentations, “O Canada” will be sung by former Laurier Macdonald students and professional musicians Sara and Jesica Taddio. The Bialik High School choir will also take to the stage and perform songs in Yiddish.

Other distinguished guests scheduled to be in attendance are: Robert Stocker, Deputy Director General of the English Montreal School Board, Roma Medwid, Deputy Director General of the English Montreal School Board, Antonio Lacroce, Former Director General of the English Montreal School Board, Canadian Veterans Alex Hall, George Mann, Grant Mclaughlan, Canadian Peacekeeper Mastercoporal Marco Mastantuono and Holocaust survivors Paula Bultz, Willie Glaser, and Ted Bolgar.

Students will conclude the day with a final interactive session, ensuring that every individual has had the opportunity to hear the eyewitness accounts from the invited guests. This cross cultural connection marks the continuation of a relationship between the two schools which began five years ago as part of a program involving the renaming of the former Wagar High School building in Côte Saint-Luc after Giovanni Palatucci, a righteous gentile who saved the lives of thousands of Jews during the Holocaust.
