MONTREAL, FEBRUARY 7, 2011 – The English Montreal School Board (EMSB) Pedagogical Services Department will be hosting the 2nd Annual Italian Storytelling Festival at Le Chateaubriand in Rivière des Prairies (7985 boul. Maurice-Duplessis) on Monday, February 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The festival, which made its successful debut last year, will feature students in the Integrated Italian Program, PELO or PICAI heritage language classes. Its goal is to celebrate the art of storytelling and encourage students to learn a third language.
Each participating school will choose two students to present a three-minute story in the Italian language. Although the participants will not be judged at the festival, they will first be evaluated by their teacher based on the following criteria: style, technique, voice, expression, animation and overall delivery.
Participating in the event are the following elementary schools: Dalkeith in Anjou; Dante, General Vanier, Honore Mercier and Pierre de Coubertin in St. Leonard; East Hill, Leonardo da Vinci Elementary and Michelangelo in Riviere-des-Prairies; Edward Murphy in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve; Gerald McShane in Montreal North; Nesbitt and Pierre Elliott Trudeau in Rosemount; Our Lady of Pompeii in Ahuntsic; and St. Dorothy in St. Michel.
