|ROYAL WEST ACADEMY STUDENT TO HAVE SCRIPT AIRED ON YTV SUNDAY APRIL 8|
MONTREAL, APRIL 4, 2001— Dafna Wisbaum, a 15 year old Grade 9 student at the English Montreal School Board’s (EMSB) Royal West Academy, has been selected as the winner of a Youth Television Network (YTN) writing contest. Her entry, Stranger in the Mirror, will air on YTV’s Incredible Story Studio (www.storystudio.com) on Sunday April 8 at 8 p.m.
Each half-hour episode showcases two kid's stories adapted into 10 minute, live action TV dramas. The 10-14 year old writers introduce their own stories to viewers, and are profiled on the show. Wisbaum was 14 at the time she submitted her script. Stranger in the Mirror Star focuses on a football player named Marcus who gets cast in the role of Macbeth and quickly loses himself in the part. Mistaking his best friend for the deceitful Banquo represents just one of Marcus’ many troubles while being Macbeth. He has to snap back to reality before it is too late and avoid losing not only the role of a lifetime but his best friend as well.
Wisbaum, a Côte St. Luc resident, has done some acting with The Montreal School of Performing Arts which helped inspire her to write this story. She is also a competitive swimmer at the Loisir Sportif Côte-Des Neiges. In addition to having her story aired, Wisbaum won a cash prize of $500.
