MONTREAL, SEPTEMBER 27,  2011-   Joseph Petraglia, the commissioner for Ward 12 (Ahuntsic and New Bordeaux) since the inception of the English Montreal School Board 13 years ago, has tendered his resignation.

Over the years Mr.  Petraglia has served on numerous EMSB standing committees and chaired the Transportation  and the Adult Education and Vocational Service Advisory Committees. Prior to settling in Canada, Mr. Petraglia resided in New York City and represented the United States of America during the Vietnam War. He often shared these experiences with students in different schools.  As a parent, he began his involvement  in the school system 31 years ago when his children were enrolled at Our Lady of Pompei.

“Now the time has come for me to move to the next phase of my life, where I plan to spend more time with my grandchildren and family,” he remarked.
EMSB Chairman Angela Mancini thanked Mr. Petraglia for his years of dedicated service.

A successor to Mr. Petraglia will be chosen by the Council of Commissioners at their meeting of October 26, 2011. EMSB TV did an interview with Mr. Petraglia, which can be seen at http://vimeo.com/29685855.
