MONTREAL, OCTOBER 3, 2011 – In an effort to encourage students at the English Montreal School Board to pursue healthy and physically active lifestyles, Norman Katz, a Physical Education teacher from Royal Vale School in N.D.G. is once again spearheading the local edition of International Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 5.
Entering its fifth year, students and parents from three EMSB elementary schools: Royal Vale and St. Monica in N.D.G. and St. John Bosco in Ville-Émard will walk to school with their parents or will be dropped off at a local park to walk as part of a school ‘team’. Joining EMSB students on Wednesday will be nearly 60 children from Lower Canada College.
In all, nearly 300 students are expected to meet at either NDG Park at 7:15 a.m (corner of Girouard and Cote St. Antoine), Angrignon Park at 7:15 a.m (Corner Boulevard Trinitaires and Park Angrignon) and Confederation Park (Corner Fielding and West Hill) at 8:15 a.m. and engage in this fun and healthy way to begin the school day.
