MONTREAL, NOVEMBER 7, 2011- On the occasion of Media Literacy Week (November 7 -11), the English Montreal School Board Pedagogical Services Department has announced plans to introduce the use of a multimedia resource from Videotron called “Vigilance sur le net.”
All high school French teachers will receive a copy of this material, with added resources prepared by the Français Langue Seconde (FLS) high school consultants’ team. While the FLS high school consultants will help all of the FLS high school teachers integrate the resource’s contents into the FLS program, there will be a special introduction of this resource and its content to Rosemount High School students and staff on Monday morning November 28.
At this time, EMSB Pedagogical Consultant Maureen Baron will give a presentation to all Secondary II students on Internet safety in general, cyberbullying and on how to set the privacy and security settings in Facebook for maximum safety. Following the presentation the students will engage in a learning activity prepared by the FLS high school consultants’ team, which will allow them to reflect on, and integrate, the information presented by Ms. Baron. The French teachers will continue this learning in the classroom with further information and activities from the Videotron resource “Vigilance sur le net.”
