The EMSB and The Black Coalition of Quebec held a significant cultural exchange on Feb. 21 at the Centre Loisirs Sportifs de Côte-des-Neiges to focus on Black History Month. St. Léonard's Laurier Macdonald High School spearheaded this initiative. Students from more than a dozen schools, representing the English and French public sectors as well as the Jewish and Muslim communities, participated. Among the guest speakers were Quebec Revenue Minister Lawrence Bergman, Parti Quebecois MNA Louise Harel, West Island Nelligan MP Yolande James, EMSB Director General Antonio Lacroce and Montreal City Councillor Marcel Tremblay. The day's activities included many student performances, ranging from readings and poems, to music. There was also an exhibition of student art for all to enjoy.
