Elizabeth Ballantyne School in Montreal West spent a day filled with food, fitness and fun. Friday, February 11 was declared "Nutrition Day" at the school, and was dedicated to showing students the benefits of balancing a healthy diet with physical fitness. The day began in the school gym, where all 280 students sat down to a healthy breakfast of cereal, milk, juice, fruits, bagels, muffins and eggs. They were also entertained by EMSB dietitians Sylvie Beaudry and Giuiliana Di Quinzio, who as "The Nutri Sisters", explained the importance of eating a good breakfast through their "Food Group Song" (which was sung to the tune of "The Banana Boat Song"). Nutrition Day, which was organized by Elizabeth Ballantine's teachers and funded by the Home and School Association and local merchants, is part of the school¹s year-long "Health and Well-Being" program, which is aimed to encourage its students to adapt a healthy and active lifestyle.
