The students and staff at Honore-Mercier Elementary School were honoured by a visit from Father Emmett "Pops" Johns - The founder of Le Bon Dieu dans la rue who is 8o years old and still going strong to help our homeless youth. Father Pops made "Dans la Rue" a reality, by venturing into the streets one night in December 1988 with a second-hand van, which he bought with a personal loan for $10,000, to offer "help without judgement" to Montreal's street kids. This year, Honoré Mercier had a school wide "dress down day" and raised over $ 1,200 and canned goods. In addition to this amount, the Grade 6 students raised close to $4,000 for this well worthy cause.   Elena Agozzino  guided and mentored the Grade 6 students in this wonderful project.
