Edward Murphy Elementary School in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve launched its Literacy Week with the formal unveiling of its “reading train” mural, which is located near the school’s main entrance. Created by Montreal artist Christiane Gagnon, the 25 foot by nine foot mural, which took two months to complete, depicts a train station, in which the train that’s departing the station is filled with symbols about the joys of reading books, and contains a lot of popular characters in children’s and young adult books, such as Tintin and Jonathan Livingstone Seagull. Newspaper columnist and   CJAD   Book Banter host  Stuart Nulman also spoke to the Cycle III students about his career as a writer and journalist, the importance of reading books, how to be a writer and how he put together his 2002 bestselling book Beyond the Mountain: True Tales About Montreal.
