LaurenHill’s Olympic Project

ASuburban Newspaper editor Beryl Wajsman and columnist Mike Cohen (also the communications director for the English Montreal School Board) are presented with school sweaters from students at LaurenHill Academy in St. Laurent. Wajsman and Cohen spoke to the Grade 7 students about what it takes to produce a newspaper. On the eve of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, students will be preparing magazine and broadcast units on the subject. The staff of the English department at LaurenHill’s Junior Campus have been planning an exciting “inter-disciplinary project” on the Olympics. According to teacher Tara Fogel the teaching team recognized the need for students to understand that their education, and the world, is interconnected.
