Journalism Legend Steve Kowch Visits EMSB

Steve Kowch, a graduate of Rosemount High School  and Nesbitt Elementary School and the author of the student-oriented “99 Things You Wish You Knew Before…Making It Big In Media” returned to the EMSB recently and spoke to Secondary III, IV and V students at both Rosemount High School and at Laurier Macdonald High School.

As a highly successful media personality, Kowch is spoke to students about the evolution of his career and how they can realize their own dreams in the media industry, from being on the front lines as an anchor or writer to finding a spot behind the scenes in various production related positions.

Steve Kowch is an award winning former Radio News Director and Talk Radio Program Director at two of Canada's largest news-talk radio stations: CFRB Radio in Toronto and CJAD Radio in Montreal. He was also national director of the talk format for the largest radio chain in Canada. After 15 years in the industry, Kowch branched out on his own to start kowchMEDiA in 2010. kowchMEDiA was created to mentor radio hosts, producers, operators, news anchors, reporters, news directors, program directors, operation managers and general managers to create great radio. In addition to kowchMEDiA, Steve is a professor of radio, radio news, radio documentaries and Talk Radio at two Toronto area colleges. He is also the author of 99 Things You Wish You Knew Before Making It BIG In Media.
