Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at St. Monica

For two days only, St. Monica Elementary  School in N.D.G allowed its students to be Sneezy, Sleepy, Dopey, Happy, Bashful and Grumpy as the charming story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was performed for students, parents and special guests.

While the bilingual performance was organized by teachers Nancy Coutu and Linda Saunoris, in addition to an hour of practice daily, the 36 students from Grades 1 and 2 have also had their hands full, playing a role in the construction and painting of the sets, posters and advertising.

“This was a great play and we’re thrilled that the students were able to learn so much throughout the whole process. They heard stories and music in both English and French and they were really learning their languages in many different ways,” said Coutu. “We enjoyed this more than the kids, it’s like Broadway!

“Kids that might be struggling in class did not realize that they were learning through this experience,” she added. “When they read the script, they thought that they were practicing lines, but really, they were working on their English and French.”
