2011 Toy Tea!

Twenty participating EMSB schools managed to collect about 3,200 new toys for the 20th annual Christmas and Chanukah Toy Tea, which was held on December 7 at Tudor Hall, which is located on the 5th floor of Ogilvy’s department store. The toys will benefit children with AIDS and children who are being sheltered and protected from abuse, war, poverty and/or violence. This is the ninth year of the EMSB’s involvement in the Toy Tea Campaign, which is an initiative of Spiritual, Religious and Moral Education Consultant Irene Miller. The participating EMSB schools were: Willingdon School and Royal Vale School in N.D.G.; Roslyn School in Westmount; Gardenview School, Parkdale School and LaurenHill Academy (Junior and Senior Campus) in St. Laurent; Vincent Massey Collegiate and Nesbitt School in Rosemount; Lester B. Pearson High School and Our Lady of Pompei School in Montreal North; Dunrae Gardens School and Carlyle School in T.M.R.; Honore Mercier School in St. Leonard; Bancroft School in the Plateau; John F. Kennedy High School and St. Dorothy School in St. Michel; Merton School in Cote St. Luc; St. Gabriel School in Pointe St. Charles; and Sinclair Laird School in Park Extension. Student representatives from each school, along with their respective spiritual community animators, teachers, administrators, and Ms. Miller, attended the event to drop off their donated toys and receive special certificates of participation. Attendees were also treated to performances by the Willingdon and Roslyn school choirs.
