This is part of the PELO (Programme des Etudes des Langues d’Origines) program, sponsored by MEES (Ministry of Education and Higher Learning) which covers part of the cost of 50 hours of instruction. The curriculum has as its main goal a familiarization with the Hebrew language and with Jewish history, traditions and customs. It also imparts knowledge of and attachment to Israel.
One hour classes are held twice a week after school for Grades 1-6. Parents must pay for the additional time beyond the hours covered by the Ministry.
The Kindergarten class also meets twice a week for one hour. However, the cost of Kindergarten classes is higher than that of Grades 1 to 6 because there are no Ministry subsidies for the program for this age level.
