Parkdale Robotics Team
Robotics has started! Under the guidance of Mrs. Batzios, Ms. Mantzika's grade 5 enriched math group and Mrs. Katsaro's math group participate once a week in the building of simple machines. The children have been put in groups of 3 where each one was given a specific task. There are Journal Writers who keep a detailed account of which machine they are building, if they complete the task successfully, and all the inventory requests from other teams (i.e. If the other teams wish to borrows items from theirs). There are Materials Managers who are in charge of distributing the kits and the pieces required for each machine.
There are Plans Keepers whose job it is to get the plan their team needs and get the materials necessary from the Materials Managers. This is a wonderful exercise in teamwork, co-operation, management and independence. It requires the skills necessary to read plans and follow them through until their successful completion.
