Philosophy
St. Raphael Centre is a specialized
educational program for students with behavioural difficulties.
Specialized teachers and administrators ensure that educational
planning maximizes student learning.
Admission to St. Raphael is by referral.
A complete package must be obtained from the school and referrals
should be made no later than May for the following September. A
multi-disciplinary team will review the student's suitability for the
program. Students are accepted on a conditional three-to-six week trial
period to see how they fit into the program.

Distinctive Programs St. Raphael offers:
- A highly structured program based on behaviour modification and teaching students social skills;
- An MDT (multi-disciplinary team) approach, using a cross-section of teaching and non-teaching professionals;
- An IEP (Individualized Educational Plan) documents the
student’s academic progress, psychological and educational
history, parental involvement, and behavioural progress;
- On-going parental involvement;
- A student-centered learning approach.
St. Raphael uses regular and Special Education programs to
meet each student’s academic needs. In addition to in-class
social skills development, every individual student benefits from the
personalized behaviour program created by his or her teacher-advisor.
The psycho-educator also supervises individual and group sessions on
social skills learning, holds regular meetings with teachers to monitor
student progress, and co-ordinates the overall behavioural program.
Extracurricular Events and Activities
There are several organized field trips to both cultural and social
events throughout the year.
Parental Involvement
Parents are encouraged to get involved with the school to
ensure their child's success, and are urged to attend three
parent-teacher conferences.
