ELECTORS

In order to be on the electoral list of the EMSB a person must;

  • Be a qualified voter according to the School Elections Act (art. 12);

(1)  has attained 18 years of age,
(2)  is a Canadian citizen,
(3)  is domiciled in the territory of the English-language school service centre
(4)  has been domiciled in Québec for at least six months,
(5)  is not under curatorship
(6)  has not been convicted within the last five years of an offence that is a corrupt electoral or referendum practice under this Act,

  • Be eligible to vote for the EMSB according to the Elections Act (art. 15);

(1)  Any elector who has a child admitted at the EMSB
(2)  Any elector who does not have a child admitted at the EMSB and is domiciled in the territory, if the elector so chooses. 
(3)  Any elector whose child was enrolled at the EMSB and has finished school is deemed to have chosen to be registered on the list of the EMSB

Who is not eligible to be on the electoral list of the EMSB
Any elector who has a child admitted at a francophone school service centre.

  • VOTE BY MAIL

Decree 2020-066 and Regulation Respecting Voting by Mail
You may be eligible to vote by mail if:

- You are registered on the electoral list; and

a) You live in a residential and long-term care facility governed by the Act respecting health services and social services (CHSLD) or a private seniors’ residence;

         OR

b) You are a person:

  1. returning from a trip abroad less than 14 days earlier;
  2. who has received a COVID-19 diagnosis and is still considered to be a carrier of the disease;
  3. showing COVID-19 symptoms;
  4. having been in contact with a suspected, probable or confirmed COVID-19 case less than 14 days earlier;
  5. waiting for the results of a COVID-19 screening test;

If you wish to avail yourself of the vote by mail, please make a request to the Returning Officer as soon as possible after November 23, 2020, and before December 10, 2020 at 4:30 pm:

Voting ballot(s) will be sent with a return envelope and instructions to each eligible voter who requested to vote by mail.

Completed ballots must be received at the Election Office before 4:30 pm on December 18, 2020.
