Holiday Calendar

Mr. J. Wright - Dec. 3, 2017

It seems we were just welcoming you back from the summer and now the holidays are upon us.

The school has a number of events leading up to the last day of class (Dec. 22nd)

You can click here for a copy of the letter sent home that outlines all the important dates.

Winter is Coming! (no royalties owed, we're stating fact)

Mr. J. Wright - Nov. 20, 2017

winterIt is good practice to have your child leave a pair of indoor shoes at the school to change into from their outdoor boots. Boots are not appropriate footwear for the entire school day. Furthermore, the children do enjoy playing in the snow. Snow pants will ensure that they will stay warm and dry for the afternoon classes (as will appropriate gloves, hats and scarves). As a policy at all schools, the practice of throwing snowballs is not permitted. If students are in school, they are expected to be dressed appropriately to be able to play outside.

P.S. Having an extra pair of socks at school or in their bag is ALWAYS a good idea.

From the EMSB: In the event of a school closure due to poor weather, we immediately post this news on our Twitter feed @Englishmtl

Parent Teacher Interviews

Mr. J. Wright - Nov. 11, 2017

Thursday, November 16th  Parent Teacher Interview / Ped-Day:

This will be a Professional Day. As such, there is no school for the students to facilitate the Parent Teacher interviews. The hours are as follows:

Session 1:  8:30am - 12:15am

Session 2:  1:30pm - 4:15pm

Session 3:  5:30pm - 8:30pm

Sessions 1 & 2 will take place in the teachers’ respective homerooms. These times are to facilitate the longer meeting required for students on either an Action plan or I.E.P.

Session 3 will take place in the Gymnasium for parents of students in Cycle II and III.

Interviews for Kindergarten and Cycle I will take place in the teachers’ respective homerooms for all three sessions.

Please Note:  All interviews are on a first come, first served basis unless your child has an IEP or action plan (a second letter has been attached) in which prior arrangements have been made with the teacher. Please be advised that interviews for the students with action plan or IEP appointments will be given priority. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.

All Hallows Eve

Mr. J. Wright - Oct. 26, 2017

Tuesday, October 31st, 2017 will be the Dalkeith Halloween Celebration Day. Many children will choose to come into school in costume, for this reason, it is important to note a few important guidelines...

Concerning Costume Themes:
Sensibility and good taste are the order of the day. As such, culturally insensitive, violent or suggestive themed costumes should be considered inappropriate (no swords, guns, etc will be permitted).

Concerning Make-up vs. Masks:
Face paint and make-up is always the safest choice when choosing a costume (visibility is not impeded). However, if you choose to send your child in with a mask understand that they will NOT be permitted to wear the mask during the school day.

Thanksgiving Lunch - Oct 13

Mr. J. Wright - Oct. 10, 2017

We are going to have our Dalkeith Thanksgiving lunch on Friday, October 13th, 2017 at no cost to the students. We will be providing a hot turkey lunch to all students and staff and we will be eating as a school together in the gym. The school will be paying for this lunch, however, we are asking that all students bring two non-perishable food items to help begin our Holiday Food Drive in exchange; therefore, please DO NOT send your child to school with a lunch, unless s/he has food allergies. However, a snack for recess would still be a good idea. Other than the lunch Friday, it is a regular school day so the students should be in full dress code. It is not a dress down day.

We will be accepting donations through November and into early December for local food banks and Christmas Baskets if your shopping only takes place on weekends.

Back to School 2017!

Mr. J. Wright - Aug. 30, 2017

I am thrilled to be able to welcome everyone to what we hope to be a year filled with learning, laughs, challenges and cheer. The 2017-2018 academic year will truly be an exciting one at Dalkeith as we are embarking on our STEAM initiative. We invite you all to our “Meet the Teacher” night on September 7th at 7pm then stay for our General Assembly at 8pm. We believe in open communication between the school and home. When a partnership is formed, the student can only benefit.
