HUB Resource Centre

The HUB Resource Centre supports students across the English Montreal School Board’s Outreach Network by providing short‑term, intensive academic and personal support in a structured, welcoming environment. The HUB is designed to help students stabilize, regain confidence, and continue their education while preparing for a successful return to their original school or transition to a more appropriate Outreach setting.

Students typically attend The HUB temporarily, remaining enrolled in their home school while receiving targeted support. This transitional approach allows students to continue earning credits, address academic or social challenges, and build the skills needed to re‑engage successfully with their long‑term educational pathway.

The HUB contributes to the Outreach Network’s focus on student‑driven learning, increased retention, and improved graduation outcomes by empowering students to develop independence, resilience, and effective learning strategies.

Student Support and Program Development

The Hub offers individualized academic and social support through a dedicated team of teachers and professionals. Students benefit from small-group, tutor-style instruction designed to help them stay on track with their coursework, as well as one-on-one support tailored to their specific learning needs.

In addition to core academic programming, students can participate in a variety of enrichment courses—including music, horticulture, and mechanics—that foster engagement, personal growth, and a renewed connection to learning. Through this balanced approach, the Hub helps students build the skills, confidence, and motivation needed to achieve their educational goals.

Resource Support and Assistive Technology

The Outreach Network serves students with a wide range of learning and support needs. Learning challenges can often lead to frustration and behavioral difficulties, making early intervention and targeted support essential. Our goal is to help students understand their individual strengths and challenges, recognize how these affect their learning, and develop the skills and strategies needed to succeed and reach their full potential.

The HUB supports the English Montreal School Board’s initiative to ensure that students who require assistive technology have access to the appropriate tools, training, and support to use them effectively in their classrooms and daily learning.

Indigenous Landing Pad Program

In 2024, The HUB launched the Indigenous Landing Pad Program to support Indigenous students arriving in Montreal from northern regions and smaller Indigenous communities. The program provides a welcoming transition into a larger urban school environment while helping students become familiar with its expectations, routines, and pace.

Students receive comprehensive academic and social assessments, targeted support in identified areas of need, and referrals to community and social services when appropriate. The HUB team works closely with students and families to identify the most suitable school placement and coordinates ongoing integration and follow-up supports to promote a successful transition and continued academic success.

Respite Program for Students

Supporting the unique needs of Outreach Network students is at the core of our work. While students benefit from structure and consistency, they also thrive when they feel empowered and actively engaged in their educational journey.

The HUB provides a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes academic growth while fostering student voice and autonomy. The Respite Program is designed to meet the individual needs of each student through personalized learning plans that reflect their strengths, interests, goals, and challenges. By encouraging students to take an active role in shaping their educational experience, the program builds engagement, confidence, and the skills needed for long-term success.
