Programs & Services

Our Outreach Network Schools

Our Outreach schools provide specialized educational programs and services for students who require additional support beyond what a traditional school setting can offer. These schools are designed to respond to diverse academic, social, and emotional needs, ensuring that students remain connected to learning in a safe and supportive environment.

Specialized School Programs

Each Outreach school has a distinct specialty that reflects the specific needs of the students they serve. While all programs share a commitment to flexibility, student well‑being, and academic success, individual schools may focus on areas such as:

  • Dropout prevention and re‑engagement in learning
  • Mental health and emotional well‑being
  • Social, behavioural, or adjustment challenges
  • Academic recovery and credit completion

This specialized approach allows schools to tailor programming, staffing, and supports to best meet the needs of their student population.

Individualized Learning and Support Services

Across all programs, students benefit from a range of coordinated services, which may include:

  • Individualized academic programming aligned with Ministry requirements
  • Smaller class sizes and personalized instruction
  • Social and emotional support from trained staff
  • Collaboration with social workers, youth service professionals, and community agencies
  • Transition planning to support movement back to a community school or onward pathways when appropriate

Services are delivered with sensitivity, respect, and an understanding of each student’s unique circumstances.

Referral‑Only Admission

Admission to Outreach schools is by referral only. Referrals are typically made through the English Montreal School Board in collaboration with schools, families, and appropriate professionals. This process ensures that placements are made thoughtfully and that each student is matched to a program that aligns with their specific needs.

Families interested in these programs are encouraged to speak with their child’s current school team or designated EMSB professionals to learn more about the referral process.

A Collaborative, Student‑Centered Approach

All programs operate with a strong focus on collaboration. School teams work closely with families and community partners to provide coordinated support that promotes stability, engagement, and continued educational progress.

Our Outreach schools are committed to meeting students where they are and supporting them in moving forward academically, socially, and personally.
