Mental Health Week - May 1 to 5, 2017
The theme of the 2017 Mental Health Awareness Week is “Connecting with nature”. Science is providing more and more evidence that when we connect with nature by engaging in activities in nature (hiking, gardening, etc.), there is an improvement in our overall mental well-being and there are decreases in the rates of stress, anxiety and depression.
This year, EMSB schools will be encouraged to share how they connect with nature by creating slideshows, videos or written pieces. Participating schools will be featured in the EMSB Focus Newsletter, and eligible to win one of three surprise nature-inspired baskets.
