In addition to leading the enrichment programs at EMSB and designing services for gifted and talented students at EMSB schools, Dr. Birlean has been teaching at McGill since 2010 in the Faculty of Education, where her primary teaching responsibilities are within the field of special education, specifically in gifted education, and in differentiated assessment in inclusive education. Dr. Birlean is also the author of multiple articles and chapters in the field of gifted education and finally, she is the parent of a highly gifted child.

Meet Maia, a passionate and empathetic educator with a background in Psychology and Sociology & Social Anthropology. Currently working towards a Bachelor of Social Work at Dalhousie University and Inclusive Education Certificate at McGill University, Maia has completed the course on Gifted and Talented (GAT) Students, taught by Dr. Birlean, and is sharing and furthering her interest by working with GAT students at the EMSB. Maia has a unique and multi-disciplinary understanding of the barriers young students face. With a strengths-based and empowerment approach to learning, Maia provides students with the support and resources they need to achieve wellbeing and feelings of success.

Meet Sarah, who has taught and implemented Dr. Birlean's enrichment programs for the last two years. She was also a student of Dr. Birlean’s! She is a recent graduate from McGill University (MEd Inclusive Education) with a special focus on fostering creativity and supporting gifted and talented students. Before working in Montreal, Sarah taught music and theater and supported children with autism through a clinical play therapy program in Vancouver, BC.

Aishwarya is a passionate educator with a special interest in educational inclusion, justice, and equity for all learners. She is currently pursuing her graduate studies in Educational Psychology at McGill University, focusing on developing learners' social-emotional competencies to foster sentiments of inclusion, acceptance, advocacy, and strife for justice. 
Prior to moving to Montreal, Aishwarya has developed and taught interdisciplinary and project-based learning curricula in elementary schools in Bangalore, India.

Meet Pamela, a goal-oriented and enthusiastic graduate student at the School of Information Studies at McGill University, who possesses a strong passion for data analytics in data-driven decision-making, and a proficiency in client and server-side web programming. Motivated by her love for children and a desire for empowerment, she actively contributes to the Gifted and Exceptional Learners dossier (Student Services Department) as an academic success tutor, dedicated to enriching the skillset of young and gifted students beyond the boundaries of their academic curriculum.
