About John Grant High School

John Grant High School is a special needs high school situated in the borough of Côte St-Luc. Students travel to school by city or school bus, or are dropped of by parents. Our school services students from within the entire English Montreal School Board territory, as well as other boards both on and off the island of Montreal.
What programs does John Grant offer?

Competency-Based Approach to School Participation (CASP)
The goal of the program is to help students with moderate to severe intellectual impairments begin to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to be autonomous and to integrate into society. Students are between 11 and 15 years of age in this program.

Modified Academic Program (MAP)
The MAP program covers the Cycle One High School Curriculum (secondary 1 and 2), stretched out over a four year period.  Students are between 11 and 15 years of age in this program.

Défi Program (Challenges)
The Défi Program consists of courses focused on functional academic subjects, hands-on daily living skills and students are introduced to working life (universal job skills). This program is designed for students with moderate to severe cognitive disabilities, from age 16 to 21.

Pre-Work and Semi-Skilled Trade (WOTP)
The WOTP program consists of courses focused on functional academic subjects and work placements leading to the Pre-Work or Semi-Skilled Trade Work-Oriented Training Pathway Ministry Certification. Generally, students who enter the WOTP have the capacity to travel autonomously and work independently at their work placement.  Students are between 16 and 21 years of age in this program.

Autonomy Preparation Program (APP)
APP is a local program (meaning that it only exists at JGHS and LINKS) that aims to teach students autonomy, self-advocacy and self-care skills, as well as academic progression in preparation for independence. Students are between 18 and 21 years of age in this program.
