Academic Programs & Initiatives

With an approximate enrolment of 800 students from kindergarten to grade 11, Royal Vale provides an exceptional learning environment geared towards french language arts, mathematics and science.

The high school level of Royal Vale offers extra-curricular activities and intensive studies in mathematics and science. Students will also be able to choose from different concentration options including music, drama, and sports. Students will also be able to choose between our French Immersion Program, which will be 70% French and our French Flex , which will be 30% French.

All potential students must complete an entrance exam to be accepted into Royal Vale. Entrance exams for the upcoming school year are held in the fall.

An immersive French speaking environment, enrichment programs, critical thinking, cooperation and leadership roles are part of the academic experience at Royal Vale from Kindergarten to Grade 11.

In the Quebec Education Program, English Language Arts develops students' ability to understand, interpret, and create a variety of texts while fostering critical thinking, communication skills, and a love of literature.

French Immersion Program

The French immersion program, offers 83% of French language instruction in the early grades and then, as of grade 3, it follows the bilingual model with 30% of French instruction and 30% of English instruction.

STEAM Program

“STEAM” stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. It represents a multi-disciplinary initiative that promotes creativity and high levels of student engagement, as they perform a series of group projects that not only involve five school subject domains, but also makes them more relevant, creative, discovery-based and interesting for students.

PELO Program

PELO provides an opportunity for our students to learn a heritage language. The languages taught is based on demand and is usually dependent upon the largest cultural groups attending a specific school.

Daily Physical Activity

À l'école, on bouge! The objective it is to transform school culture toward an active one, specifically by ensuring students are provided with the opportunity to accumulate at least 60 minutes of physical activity during each school day.

After School Enrichment Program

The Enrichment Program is a popular option offered by the Royal Vale Elementary Home and School Association from 2:35 PM - 3:40 PM, available to students from kindergarten to grade 6. Students can choose from a diverse selection of activities such as sports, cooking, arts, and STEM, with the flexibility to select up to 5 activities per week. Program fees vary based on the activity chosen. Another sought-after option is the Music Program, which runs from 3:45 PM - 5:45 PM. Available to students in grades 2-6, this program run by RVEHSA, offers 30-minute, one-on-one piano or guitar lessons with dedicated music teachers. Students also have the opportunity to participate in school recitals.

Resource Teachers

Resource Teachers provide assistance to students who need extra help in English, as well as in French. Teachers collaborate to include students with special needs in the regular classes.

Online Tutoring and Homework Help

All students and families have access to LEARN (Leading English Education and Resource Network) which provides e-learning resources and academic support, online tutoring and homework help for all grade levels. A username and password is provided by the school to each student.

Homework Supervision

Homework supervision is provided to elementary school students enrolled in the After School Enrichment Program.

Royal Vale’s Enriched Math, Science, and Technology Program is designed for curious and motivated students eager to explore advanced concepts and real-world applications. Through challenging coursework, hands-on experiments, and innovative projects, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. This program prepares learners for post-secondary studies and future careers in STEM by fostering academic excellence and technological fluency.

French Programs

At the high school level, Royal Vale continues to support students in deepening their French language proficiency through French Programs. Building on the foundation established in earlier grades, students engage in academic subjects taught in French while continuing to strengthen their bilingual communication skills. As students progress through the cycles, the balance between French and English instruction shifts to meet Ministry of Education requirements, while still maintaining a strong emphasis on French fluency, cultural understanding, and cross-language connections.

Advanced Placement

Royal Vale’s Advanced Placement program offers ambitious students the opportunity to pursue cegep-level studies while still in high school. Through rigorous coursework and challenging assessments, AP students develop critical thinking, academic discipline, and subject mastery. This program not only prepares students for post-secondary success but also allows them to earn university credits, giving them a competitive edge in their academic journey.

School Band

The Royal Vale School Band offers students a vibrant opportunity to explore their musical talents and perform as part of a dynamic ensemble. Through regular rehearsals, students develop instrumental skills, musical literacy, and teamwork while building confidence and stage presence. Whether performing at school events or community concerts, band members experience the joy of collaboration and the pride of bringing music to life.
