Performing Arts Concentration (Dance & Drama)
The Performing Arts Concentration focuses specifically on the disciplines of dance and drama. During the dance portion of the course, we strive to nurture the student’s interest in dance and self- expression. Students will build coordination and physical fitness by developing skills, muscle strength and flexibility. It will help them build a greater understanding and appreciation of rhythm through music. Each class will instill discipline and dedication for culture and the arts. This program will give students the opportunity to perform on a stage in front of an audience after having learned and perfected choreographies. Students will be introduced to a mixture of dance styles.
The drama portion of the course gives students the exciting opportunity to explore all facets of the theatrical world. Students will have the thrilling experience to walk out onto a stage and perform in front of an audience. Characterization, voice and movement class will lead to casting, staging, rehearsals and the show! Plays are not just about acting. Scripts, set design, costuming, lighting, music and sound effects are all part of a production as are the director, stage manager, and the backstage crew. Students will learn about and explore these roles as well.
No previous dance training required for Secondary 1 students.

Music Concentration
Royal Vale offers a unique music program to students who are interested in learning and performing on a musical instrument. In the Music Concentration Program, we provide students with the exciting opportunity to take part in theoretical and practical lessons during their regular curriculum. Students who take part in this program benefit from almost daily music lessons from two qualified music teachers. The study of music is beneficial for students on many levels and can create a positive effect on students’ overall academics. This program will allow students to develop the skills and musical knowledge that are required to perform in a group setting, as a solo instrumentalist as well as to create and appreciate musical works along a broad spectrum of styles.

In the Sports Concentration, we are embracing the saying “Healthy mind in a healthy body”. Physical exercise is an important and essential part of the physical, emotional, intellectual and psychological well-being of our students. This program provides a high quality level of training in order to allow students to actualize their own athletic potential. In the Technology Concentration students will experience basic programming and software development, robotics and coding. The Technology Concentration will give students the opportunity to build an understanding of the role played by technology and gain knowledge with a hands-on approach. They will develop quantitative reasoning and analytic skills applied in every day technology while having fun!
