Shadd does not directly provide financial aid. However, students enrolled in full-time vocational programs may be eligible for government loans and bursaries through AFE (Aide financière aux études)

How many semesters are there in one school year?

Shadd’s programs do not follow a traditional semester system. Each program is continuous and competency-based, with different start and end dates throughout the year.

How long is the summer break?

Shadd closes every year for the month of July. Depending on program requirements and stage (internship) schedules, some students may finish earlier or return later.

Does Shadd have Spring Break?

Does the study duration include stage (internship)?

Yes. Program duration includes both classroom instruction and the mandatory stage component.

Does Shadd arrange stage placements for students?

Yes. Stage coordinators organize and assign students to appropriate facilities or workplaces related to their program.

How many hours is the stage? Do students get paid?

Stage hours vary by program. All stages are unpaid and mandatory for program completion. See the Stage page for details

Grades, Retakes & Absences
How many chances are given if a student fails a subject?

Students who fail a competency (subject) are normally allowed a second attempt. Additional opportunities may be granted depending on the situation and teacher's discretion.

If a student misses a subject due to personal reasons, does it need to be retaken?

Yes. Students must retake any missed or incomplete competencies. You do not have to repeat the entire program—only the required parts. Academic staff will help create a plan to catch up or re-enroll.
